Criminal charges are pending on Monday against a Carthage couple who, according to police, left their two children, ages 1 and 2, at home while they went to a Carthage neighborhood to steal from vehicles early Sunday morning.

Joplin police say one of their officers shot and injured a suspect during a confrontation at the scene of a domestic assault late on Monday and the Missouri State Highway Patrol has been called in to investigate the incident.
