The Salvation Army announces Bell Ringer Competition winners

In the 2011 Christmas season many area businesses, school groups and community organizations participated in the Salvation Army’s Bell Ringer Competition.

“We are very excited to announce the bell ringer winners,” said Lt. Julie Trapp, Corps officer of the Carthage Salvation Army.

School club winner in the Carthage R-9 School District was Carthage in Action (CIA) group that raised $884.06. The service organization that won was Jasper County Sheriff’s Department with $715.96. And, the Carthage Health and Rehabilitation Center won in the business category with $464.18.

“A huge thank you to all individuals, families, businesses and community groups who participated in bell ringing this year,” said Lt. Trapp. “And, thank you to everyone who contributed to the Red Kettle Campaign. We are able to help needy children, families and individuals in our community because of all of you. All funds raised stay in our community and provide basic emergency needs including hot meals, food pantry, clothing, lodging, gas/transportation and much more. Funds raised in our community stay in our community.”
