CARTHAGE, Mo. -

A Youth Service Appreciation ceremony was held Tuesday evening at the Grace Pointe Assembly of God.

The Carthage Caring Communities hosted the event to recognize outstanding youth within the community. Following are the awards and recipients:

Austin Musche won the Star Volunteer 2008; AJ Dolan won the M.V.A. (Most Valuable Assistant); Destiny Presley won the Get-R-Done Award; Jordyn Poe won the Leadership Award; Hailey Waggoner won the Musketeer Award and Blaine Waggoner won a significantly unique award.

Waggoner was awarded the President’s Volunteer Service Award, certified by the President of the United States. In January 2002, President George W. Bush called on Americans to dedicate at least two years, or 4,000 hours, over the course of their lives to serve others at home or abroad. Waggoner has already served more than 1,000 hours of community service.
