Some local actors and actresses were proclaimed community stars on Saturday.

The annual Sally Awards, named after  long-time drama teacher, Sally Anne Crawford, were awarded at a banquet held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 at Stone’s Throw Dinner Theatre.  

Mistress of ceremonies was Marian Kelly. Mary Ann Andrews and Keith Garber furnished dinner music while refreshments were served. Providing additional entertainment throughout the evening were Shira Murphy, Kyle Dickey, Morgan Sneed, Robert Denning , Cheyla Navarre and David Sigars.  

In charge of refreshments were Jim and Vivian Hight, Arlene Burken and Glenda Brown. Presenters of awards were Pam White and Jim Hight.
The awards were as follows:

• Nanda Sparks — Best Supporting Actress as Mrs. Mueller in Doubt
• Kevin Provins — Best Supporting Actor as Sam in The Cemetery Club
• Raven Micale — Best Actress as Sister Aloysius in Doubt
• Shanti Navarre — Best Actress as Lucille in The Cemetery Club
• Doug Dickey — Best Actor as Kris Kringle in Miracle on 34th Street
• Best Show — The Cemetery Club directed by Doug Dickey, Oklahoma directed by Gary Roney.
• Best Costume — Peggy Geddie for Sam E. Time Next Year.
• Best Set Design — Bryan Stringer and Doug Dickey for the Cemetery Club
• Best Stage Manager — Ruth Guzman for The Cemetery Club

Volunteer Awards

• Kris Esch — Dining Room Server of the Year
• Rhonda Nicholas — Kitchen Server of the Year
• Cathy Welsh — Box Office of the Year
• Mary Ann Schlau — Usher of the Year
• Arlene Burken — Volunteer of the Year
