The Carthage R-9 Board of Education is pleased to announce a gift of $500,000 has been pledged to the Carthage R-9 School District from the Kent D. and Mary L. Steadley Memorial Trust.

The Carthage R-9 Board of Education is pleased to announce a gift of $500,000 has been pledged to the Carthage R-9 School District from the Kent D. and Mary L. Steadley Memorial Trust. The funds are earmarked for construction of new tennis courts which are included in the overall design for the 80 acre tract on which the high school, south tech center and multipurpose athletic complex are located. Work on the project will begin soon with a tentative completion date set for August 2018.
Since 1991, over $5 million has been provided to the Carthage School District by the Steadley Trust for facilities and equipment. In addition, the Steadley Trust provides scholarships to Carthage graduates annually through the Carthage R-9 School Foundation.
Dr. Mark Baker, R-9 Superintendent, stated, “We are grateful for the generosity of Kent and Mary Steadley and the faithful support of the Steadley Trust Advisory Board. Through their substantial contributions, countless opportunities have been provided for our students and our community.”
