  • Two years ago, a Carthaginian made his first appearance with his self-published book during an Art Walk – now he's ready for another Art Walk with his sequel in-hand.
Dan Trogdon, a 1971 Carthage High School graduate, self published his (self-illustrated) cartoon book “And So It Goes” in 2012. Since that time, a publishing company has picked up his book and the second volume; which continues the same witty charm as the first compilation of Trogdon's humor.
“I am really looking forward to the Art Walk,” Trogdon said, “I like to see people, and it's a time to get feedback.”
During the next Carthage Historic Downtown Art Walk, (July 25) Trogdon hopes visitors will come see him at The Palms to, if nothing else, share a laugh.
“It's a very low-pressure situation when it comes to buying a book,” Trogdon said. “I want people to look at the cartoons, if they smile or laugh that's great. That's what I want.”
Trogdon describes his books as random silliness; there's no theme, just some play-on-words to brighten the world around readers.
A treat to visitors at Art Walk: Trogdon will also have his small, quirky compilation book titled “No Pictures, Just Words.” He self published this book also this year, saying it's similar to Steve Martin's “Cruel Shoes.”
Trogdon can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Liedkin. In today's society, social media plays a big part in marketing, and it can fall right in the ballpark of a Trogdon joke.
He tweeted: “Of all the nerve! How dare Twitter tell me how many characters I can or cannot use. For their information, I'll use as many charact”
“And So It Goes,” and “And So It Goes Volume 2,” is available on Amazon and the Kindle.
