Bettie Jean Williams Chandler, age 79, passed away peacefully at her home June 20, 2014.
Bettie Jean was born on Sept. 10, 1934 in Iantha, Mo., to the late David W. Williams and Gertrude Zimmerman Williams. After graduating high school she worked and made her home in Carthage.
Bettie Jean married Jack L. Chandler on Sept. 17, 1954 who survives of the home. Bettie and Jack enjoyed many years together running their family owed business, Magneeders. She enjoyed raising German Shepherd dogs, making and collecting teddy bears, working on her computer researching genealogy, singing and playing the piano. She was a member of Blake Baptist Church in LaRussell, Mo.
Additional survivors are two sons; Danny L. (Lisa) Chandler, Carthage, Mo., and Ronnie G. (Nancy) Chandler, Joplin, three grandsons; Travis Chandler, Springfield, Mo, Dusty (Mary) Chandler, Victoria, Texas and Micah Chandler, Minnesota, two granddaughters; Becky (David) Gazdak, Florida, and DeAnna Miksell, Florida, five great grandsons and two great granddaughters.
In addition to her parents, Bettie Jean is preceded in death by her sister; Lacie L. Williams Dickey, brothers; Robert W. Williams, James E. Williams and David H. Williams.
The family wishes to thank all her dearest friends and care givers for being there through good times and hard times. She was Jack’s rock and the family’s greatest support. She was loved and will be missed by all. In-lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions may be made to Blake Baptist Church.
Graveside services for Mrs. Chandler are 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Taylor Cemetery, Sarcoxie, Mo. Jerry Mayfield will be officiating.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home, Sarcoxie, Mo.
