  • A Carthage High School graduate hopes to begin his higher education in California a bit sooner than this fall.
    Arad Reed, the tenth ranked graduating senior for the Class of 2014, has been accepted into the “Make Games With Us” summer academy. During this program, set June 23-Aug. 16 (San Francisco, Palo Alto and New York City) 150 select minds from across the nation will be designing, coding and shipping their own original iPhone games. There were only 50 spots available in New York, 50 spots in Palo Alto, and Reed was chosen as one of the 50 in San Francisco.
    Reed will own 100 percent of the rights to the work he does on his game.

    Reed plans on attending University of California- Santa Barbara to major in computer science. He is the son of Lendell and Jennifer Reed.
