  • Those looking for some good summer reading will enjoy the next Carthage Historic Downtown Art Walk.
Local authors have been invited to join in the fun of the next Art Walk, slated 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 23 on the Square.
Stationed in the UMB lobby will be writers: Rodney Blaukat, Pamela Corkle, Cheryle Finley, Alice Lynn Greenwood, Rebecca Haines, Michele Hansford, Helen Hunter and Daniel Martin.
Additionally, the Carthage Public Library will be represented in promotion of the “Spark a Reaction!” summer reading program, supported by the Carthage R-9 School District.
“I am excited about the Art Walk,” said library director Julie Yockey. “The longer I am in Carthage the more I am finding out about where people go, what civic functions are important to people. I am amazed at how involved Carthaginians are with their city, it makes me proud.”
Those seeking all the beauty of the Art Walk will be delighted to find artists: Shyanna Busch, Brittany Calvin, April Davis, Kristin Huke, Sarah Huntley, Mark Whitchurch, Tucker Dunaway, Koral Martin, Karen Brust, Kristen Hawkins, Jude Champagne and Olivia Givens.
There will also be face-painting, live music by the Keltic Knot, furry visitors from the Carthage Humane Society, horse-drawn carriage rides and a saloon and country show on the south Courthouse steps.
