  • A long-standing argument between neighbors apparently got out of hand on Wednesday, resulting in one neighbor being taken to the hospital and the other ending up in the Jasper County Jail in Carthage.
The Jasper County Sheriff's Office said Robert L. Johnson, 44, rural Joplin, just got out of surgery about 5 p.m. on Wednesday after he was shot in the abdomen in the dispute.
Sheriff's Capt. Derek Walrod said Johnson's neighbor, Jennifer A. Crouch, 30, is in jail pending the filing of charges.
Crouch was charged on Thursday with three felonies, second degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
She was being held in the Jasper County Jail on Thursday on $25,000 bond.
Walrod said the shooting took place at the victim's home at 913 S. State Line Road between Seventh Street and old Route 66 just east of Galena, Kan.
    The suspect lives next door.
Walrod said during the dispute on Wednesday, the suspect had a small-caliber handgun and used it to shoot Johnson in the abdomen.
