A Carthage Relay for Life Team, Lowe's Life Striders, is raising funds for the American Cancer Society by delivering a purple tire or purple toilet in local yards. Team leader Carl Stevens said the two items have been traveling around Carthage for a while now, doing exactly what they're supposed to do.
“For $20, you can call to have the toilet or tire put in someone's yard,” he said, “and you can pay to have it moved, or put in someone else's yard, and for $30 you can have it moved with insurance so that it won't come back … We've had quite a few people get that one.”
Stevens reported no one has complained – everyone's been a good sport in knowing what the prank is for.
“The tire moved four times in one weekend,” he said, “and one week, the toilet moved four times down the same street. As long as it keeps moving, we'll keep doing it until Relay Day, June 6.”
To arrange for the “Tired of Cancer” tire, or the “Flush Cancer Away” toilet, call Carl at 417-793-2618, or email him at carlestevens@gmails.com.
Lowe's Life Striders will be at Lowe's from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday with a bake sale. And, tickets are available for a St. Louis Cardinals patio cooler raffle by calling Carl.
