  • Edith May Carr, 102, of Pittsburg, Kan., passed away at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Via Christi Village.

  • Edith May Carr, 102, of Pittsburg, Kan., passed away at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Via Christi Village.
     She was born September 16, 1911, at Raymond, Washington, the daughter of Frank Willard and Emma (Peacock) Haggard. She attended schools in Carthage, Mo.
       On September 12, 1929, she was united in marriage to Everett Eugene Carr, Sr. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1985.
      Mrs. Carr was a homemaker and loved spending time with family.
    Membership was held in the American Legion Auxiliary of Weir,  since 1966, Kent Chapter No. 117 OES, Weir, Kan.  
    Survivors include two sons, E. Eugene "Gene" Carr and his wife Freda of Girard, Kan., and Keith W. Carr of Pittsburg, Kan.; a daughter, Nancy M. Forbes of Arma, Kan.; 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great-grandchildren.    
     She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Carl Richard "Dick" Carr,  a daughter Doris J. Waggener, two brothers, Frank Haggard and Glenn Haggard and an infant brother and two sisters, Ruth Carr and Maggie "Marie" Hamilton.
     Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Brenner Mortuary with Chaplain Adah Hutchcraft officiating.
    The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
    Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery.
    The family suggests memorials to Kent Chapter No. 117 OES, Weir, Kan., or Mt Olive Baptist Church.
    These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, Kan. 66762. Friends may also leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.
