After nine weeks of the regular season, it’s now win or go home for every football team in the state of Missouri. The first round of district play begins Thursday night.
Class 4, District 4
Webb City finished 8-1 and as the top seed in the district. The Cardinals will host 1-8 McDonald County Thursday. Hillcrest finished 6-3 and seeded second, and will host 3-6 West Plains. Carl Junction lost just one game, to Webb City, and as the third seed will host 3-6 Republic. Carthage held on to the four seed despite losing at Willard, and the Tigers will host 5-4 Marshfield Thursday in a rematch from last season’s first round.
Class 2, District 4
Sarcoxie leaped Ash Grove in the final week to finish as the No. 2 seed. The Bears, 8-1, will host 2-7 Butler on Thursday. Lamar is the district’s top seed, and the 8-1 Tigers will host 1-8 El Dorado Springs. Ash Grove finished 8-1 and the third seed in the district, and will host 4-5 Stockton. Warsaw earned the fourth seed despite a 4-5 record, and will host 4-5 Diamond.
Class 1, District 2
Jasper finished undefeated and as the top seed. The Eagles will host 2-7 Liberal on Thursday. Marionville, 7-2, is the second seed and will host 3-6 Miller. Lockwood, 6-3, earned the third seed and will host 3-6 Greenfield. McAuley Catholic, 4-5, earned the fourth seed and will host 3-6 Pierce City
Other district match ups:
Joplin finished 4-5 and as the seventh seed in Class 6, District 4. The Eagles will play at 8-1 Lee’s Summit. Undefeated Blue Springs earned the top seed, Liberty is third and Rockhurst fourth.
Neosho didn’t win a game in the regular season, and the Wildcats are not surprisingly the last seed in Class 5, District 5. Neosho will play at unbeaten Kickapoo. Nixa got the two seed, Branson the third seed, Ozark is fourth and Glendale fifth.
