  • Last weekend marked the culmination of the weeklong Maple Leaf Festival in Carthage, with the trademark parade on Saturday morning, but it was also a busy weekend for local car enthusiasts.
The Maple Leaf Auto Show saw a strong turnout Friday night during its annual Cruise Night at the Best Western Precious Moments Hotel. The Carthage Chamber of Commerce sponsored a chili cook-off, and free hot dogs were served with chips and drinks. Chili dogs were the perfect compliment to the weekend’s cold weather, and there were cars and trucks of all sizes for attendees to admire.
On Saturday the Maple Leaf Car Show held its 33rd Annual Car Show and Swap Meet/Car Corral at the Congregation of the Mother Co-Redemptrix on Grand Ave. The Swap Meet/Car Corral was one of the largest, with 33 vendors selling their products, goods and hard-to-find parts of all sizes, makes and models.
At the car show, sponsored by O’Reilly Auto Parts on Garrison Ave., 380 cars and trucks were on display. The event also featured four food vendors, and a variety of inflatable toys provided by the House of Bounce.
