Shirley Thieman, 80, of Carthage passed away at 5:10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at her home.

Shirley Thieman, 80, of Carthage passed away at 5:10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 at her home.
She was born Sept. 1, 1933 in Olathe, Kan. Shirley was the daughter of Willard Campbell and Zelma "Holmes" Campbell. She was a longtime resident of Jasper County.

Shirley retired from the City Engineers Office after 25 years. She was a member of A.B.W.A. of Carthage for several years, the D.A.R. and the First United Methodist Church of Carthage. Shirley was an avid bowler at Star Lanes in Carthage.

Shirley married the love of her life, Harold Thieman on Aug. 2, 1975 in Oronogo, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2009.

Shirley is survived by five daughters and their families: Cathy Anderson and husband Steve Anderson, grandchildren; Jessica Purdom and husband Jeff and their children, Noah, Luke, Ava and Grace Ann. Debbie Westerfield; grandchildren; Dustin, Dee Ann, Devon, Sarah and their children. Jeanne Thieman Smith and husband Clint; grandchildren, Stephanie Andrews and husband Jason and their children Jacy and Aiden. Granddaughter Melanie Mitchell and husband Jason and son Jude, Grandson Jeremy Smith, Granddaughter Laura McLaughlin and husband Tyson and their children Alex, Tre and Kaden. Angela Madden; grandson Mike Madden and granddaughter Erin Madden. Lisa Coleman and husband Bill; grandson B.J. Coleman and his son Dalton, granddaughter Jina Zarifis and husband Michael and sons, Eric and Alex. Shirley is also survived by one aunt and several cousins.

Shirley's family will always remember her loving and kind Spirit. These few words fail to express the love of her daughters or her love for them and how dearly she will be missed by all who love her.

Memorial Services will be 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Carthage. Contributions can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or the Ozark Public Television in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
