  • Paul L. Hornback, 90, Carthage, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at his home in Carthage.
    Paul Louis Hornback was born November 29, 1922 in Carterville, Mo., the son of the late Samuel E. Hornback and Blanche W. (Hancock) Hornback.
    He was a Carthage High School graduate, Class of 1941. He married Lillian Lambeth on May 5, 1945, in Independence, Kansas. She survives. Paul and his wife, Lillian, owned and operated Hornback Appliance in Carthage for 44 years. He was a member of the Sarcoxie Masonic Lodge and enjoyed his favorite hobby, fishing.
    Additional survivors include a daughter, Ann Mitts and husband, Doug, Avilla, Mo.; two sons, Donald Hornback, Omaha, Nebraska, and Roger Hornback, Moberly, Mo.; a brother, Lowell Hornback and wife, Joanne, Fairland, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandson. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter and one great grandson.
    Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 14, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Private family burial will be held at a later date in Avilla Cemetery, Avilla, Mo.
