Through the month of October, Carthage will be seeing a lot of pink.
In promoting the Pink Ribbons Mammogram Program, the McCune-Brooks Healthcare Foundation has teamed up with various Carthage community organizations to bring a month full of events. To help the cause, local businesses can offer special discounts on pink goods, provide a pink service, donate portions of proceeds to the mammogram program, or decorate your location in pink.
Everyone is welcome to also participate in the following month-long series of events.
• The “McPink” promotion will be Oct. 13-26 at the Carthage McDonald’s. The business will donate 25 cents from every Big Mac / Big Mac combo order sold.
• During the Maple Leaf Luncheon Stroll & Shop on Wednesday, Oct. 16, pink sweets will be available through Kate’s Specialty Baking and Catering inside the Phelps House. Lunch will be served at 11:30-1 p.m., at the Phelps House, then dessert at the home of Pat and Judy Goff. Participants may then take a stroll to enjoying shopping down Grand Avenue at All Things Grand and Between Friends.
• Friday, Oct. 18 will be “Casual for a Cause” with all participating businesses as employees show support by wearing pink to work for a $5 donation.
• “Go Fight Cure” will be Oct. 15-19 for all Carthage High School sports home games. Both players and fans are encouraged to wear pink accessories, and on Friday, Oct. 18, all fans are to wear pink to the game. The first 500 fans will receive pink pom-poms and a pink balloon. Balloons are to be released as the players enter the field. Commemorative shirts will be available at Prime Elements.
