Joan Elaine Leeds (née Buck) was rewarded with eternal peace and comfort on Friday evening, Sept. 20, 2013 in Kansas City, Mo.
Over the past several years Joan had been fighting long and hard against cancer, but suffers no longer as she has won the ultimate battle over the sickness of this earth and now resides healthy in a Heavenly home. Joan had a profound impact on every life she touched, and greatly loved and was loved in return during her stay in this world.
Joan was born March 15, 1948 in Carthage, Mo., to Otis and Maureen Buck. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1966. Her oldest son Dale was born in 1967, with Aaron following in 1970. Joan’s boys meant the world to her, as family always did. Her unending devotion to her family was one of the reasons Joan was able to build the strong and meaningful relationships that made her life so impactful.
In 1980, Joan married Lowell Leeds and the two happily celebrated their thirty third wedding anniversary in June of this year. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren with everything she had, and quite possibly spoiled them rotten.
Joan’s life was a beautiful example of the courage, selflessness, and fulfillment that the Lord intended for His people. Her happiness was found in the joy of others, and her caring and generous personality never failed to inspire those who knew her.
Graveside services were held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the Williams Cemetery south of Avilla.
Minister Phillip O’Reilly (The Rock Church of Kansas City, Mo.) officiated. Dylan Pyles read the obituary. Pallbearers were Aaron Dement, Dale Pyles, Dylan Pyles, Connor Roach, Randy Sweet and Rick Sweet.
Memorial gifts are suggested to the Salvation Army in care of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO.
