There’s no other place like it – it’s a Hootenanny!
Long-time Carthage resident Charles Bittick opened his new restaurant, Hootenanny Blues Catfish & Chicken House, Sept. 4 in Kendricktown. The new establishment specializes in catfish, fried chicken and chicken fried steak. On Thursdays, Bittick believes the homemade chicken and noodles will be the most popular order.
“It’s what I do,” Bittick said, “I love to cook. Everything is made fresh; it’s not fast food.”
A grand opening weekend has been set for Sept. 27-28. Bittick said locals will have the chance to enjoy food specials, win food giveaways and hear some live music.
This 1971 Sarcoxie High School graduate said the idea of a Memphis-style Blues atmosphere just seemed to pop – like an old-time hootenanny.
“We’ll have live music in here most weekends; people are welcome to come play – just give us a call,” Bittick said.
When the weather is fair, Bittick hopes his patrons take advantage of the outdoor patio area. In the meantime, locals are encouraged to try lunch, dinner, and in a couple weeks, breakfast will be served as well. Everyday, homemade pies and breads are made and there is a daily lunch special.
