A Reeds man died in the hospital from injuries he suffered in a traffic crash on Missouri Highway 96 in Avilla on Saturday.
Newton County Coroner Mark Bridges confirmed that Lonnie L. Taylor, 64, Reeds, died at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin several hours after the crash, which happened at 12:50 p.m. Saturday on Highway 96 in Avilla.
A passenger in Taylor's car, Eva M. Phelps, 61, suffered serious injuries in the crash.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a tractor trailer, driven by Clyde L. Stewart, 54, Springfield, was traveling east on Highway 96 when Taylor's westbound car crossed the centerline and hit Stewart's truck.
Stewart was not injured in the crash.
Phelps and Taylor were taken to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin after the accident.
Carthage woman injured
Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident at 8 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 49 three miles south of Carthage, the patrol said.
Brittany J. Cole, 26, Carthage, and Candice M. Taylor, 18, Carl Junction, were taken to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin with minor or moderate injuries after the crash.
The patrol said Taylor's SUV was traveling north and she attempted to change lanes when she overcorrected and the vehicle overturned.
Jasper women hurt
Two Jasper women were injured in a one-vehicle crash at 8:40 p.m. Thursday on Southeast Third Lane three miles north of Jasper in Barton County.
Driver Amanda K. Miller, 27, and her passenger, Nakota K. Anderson, 25, both of Jasper, were taken to Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital in Carthage after the crash.
The patrol said Miller's car was traveling north when it ran off the right side of the road, overturned and hit a tree.
