  • Shoppers, you are going to want to break into your piggy banks. The 2013 Maple Leaf art and craft area is full.
The Carthage Chamber is compiling a waiting list but no matter what, you will have lots of great and beautiful choices again this year.
Art and craft booths will be located along the East, North and West sides of the Historic Carthage Square on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
You will be able to purchase everything from home crafts to jewelry to sculpture and pottery so whatever your taste, whatever your décor, there will be something for you.
Maple Leaf Co-Chairperson Jeanine Poe said “Maple Leaf is once again nearly upon us. We are excited to offer lots of art and craft choices for shoppers this year. I always enjoy seeing the Square busy with shoppers and the wide variance of talent of our vendors”.
Don’t forget, you will also be able to purchase Maple Leaf gear on festival day. Sportsworld will have a booth on the North side of the square selling lots of different options with the Maple Leaf logo and/or 2013 festival artwork.

    Parade deadline
The deadline for return of applications to place a float or other entry into the 47th Annual Maple Leaf Parade is quickly approaching. All applications must be received at the Carthage Chamber of Commerce, 402 S. Garrison, no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30.
The Maple Leaf Car Show has pledged a $250 cash prize for the best traditional float entry. Maple Leaf Chair Jeanine Poe says “We sincerely hope that this year, parade entrants will embrace the theme of Sounds of Celebration. Last year’s classic floats and decorations were so much fun.”
In order to provide the best service to all parade entrants, Sept. 30 is a firm deadline.
Absolutely no unregistered, last-minute entries will be allowed in the parade. All parade entries are at the discretion of the Carthage Chamber of Commerce and the Maple Leaf Committee.
You may pick applications up at the Chamber office between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday or visit the Chamber’s website www.carthagechamber.com.
