  • A Carthage High School graduate and the daughter of a Carthage High School math teacher was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Stone County early Wednesday morning, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The patrol said Jordynn R. Brown, 22, Blue Eye, was killed in the accident at 6:05 a.m. Wednesday on Missouri Highway 86 just east of Blue Eye.
Blue Eye School District Superintendent Dan Ray told Springfield television station KY3 that Jordynn Brown taught special education and was a cheerleading sponsor at Blue Eye Middle School. Grief counselors are on hand at the school to speak with students and teachers.
Carthage Superintendent Blaine Henningsen told The Carthage Press that Jordynn Brown was a 2009 graduate of Carthage High School and the daughter of Carthage High School math teacher Phillip Brown.
Southern Stone County Fire Protection District public information officer Eric Nielsen told KY3 a deputy on his way to work saw the wreckage at roughly 6:15 a.m. just off Route 86 near Honeydo Lane.
Brown was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to an online crash report. The Stone County assistant coroner pronounced Brown dead at the scene of the collision.
Knell Mortuary said a visitation for Brown's family is scheduled for 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Sunday at Fairview Christian Church.
