  • William F. Hinsdale, 81, Carthage, passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 in St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage.  
    William Franklin Hinsdale was born July 28, 1932 in Meade, Kan., the son of the late James Hinsdale and Violet (Waltye) Hinsdale.  He was a graduate of Meade High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during the Korean War onboard the U.S.S. Yarnall.  
    He married Betty Jean Gorham on May 14, 1956 in Miami, Okla.; she preceded him in death on March 27, 2007.  
    He and his wife owned and operated the Daylight Donut Shop on south Garrison for several years.
    Survivors include two daughters; Becky Lingle, Carthage and Cindy Bunce, Baxter Springs, Kan.; a son, Harry Hinsdale, Webb City, Mo.; one sister, Mary Norris, Carthage; two grandsons, Michael Hinsdale and David Shawn House, Carthage; two granddaughters, Tina House and Tyea House, Carthage.  
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Hinsdale, a daughter, Janice Sue Johnson, a son-in-law, Bart Johnson and one sister, Iona Lee Hull, Joplin, MO.
    Memorial services were held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Mo.
