The Carthage community will come together for a benefit this weekend to bring comfort during a tragedy.

To help the family of Adriaunna Horton, the 12-year-old girl from Golden City that was kidnapped and killed Aug. 19, a benefit has been set for noon-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Steel Rooster, east of Carthage. The benefit, which features many contributions from the community, will help the family with funeral costs and a memorial garden for Adriaunna.

The event will have kids’ activities, silent and live auction hosted by Kip Smith, a five-man tug-of-war contest, a hot dog eating contest, a car and motorcycle bash, bike and rat rod show, a poker tournament and tons of live entertainment.

Three stages will be set and organizers have at least 24 bands lined up including: Jake Clark Band, the Center Creek Sinners, Jack Randall Band, Stir 8 Shot, Bobby D Band, Kat Niles Band, Don Collins and Firecreek, Borderline Band, Immersia and Diversity.
