  • Mark Steven Swingle, 60, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 at his home in Baytown, Texas.

  • Mark Steven Swingle, 60, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 at his home in Baytown, Texas.
    Mark Steven Swingle was born Aug. 17, 1953 in Hamilton, Bermuda to Donald L. Swingle, Baytown, Texas, and Bobbie Swingle, Carthage, Mo.
    Mark attended Carthage and Joplin schools before graduating from Nathan Hale High, Tulsa, Okla.
    He had a love for music, playing the guitar, and the organ. However he suffered a stroke at the age of 46. He published four books between 2011 and 2012 and was hoping to write more.
    Mark was a Navy Veteran, a San Diego Police Officer; he spent 10 years in water management, and many years as a security officer at the time of his death.
    He is survived by one son John Swingle, Kingwood, Texas; two grandsons Logan and Ace; a brother, Rev. Don Swingle Jr., Pittsburgh, Penn.; his parents, father Donald Swingle of Baytown, Texas, and mother Bobbie Swingle of Carthage, Mo; many nieces and nephews; and two uncles.
    He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelly Nichole.
    He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church, Baytown Texas. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at Fairview Christian Church, Carthage, Mo. Rev. Jim Taylor and Pastor Don Swingle Jr. will be officiating.
    Music will be done by James Still. Burial will be at a later date in Klien, Texas, near his granddaughter. Arrangements under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
