  • A 34 year old Lockwood Man waived formal reading of the charges against him Monday afternoon, August 26th, 2013, during the arraignment in Barton County.
Bobby D. Bourne, Jr. was charged with child kidnapping, forceable rape, statutory rape and first degree murder.
Bourne was informed of his rights by Associate Circuit Judge, Charles Curless during the hearing.
Investigators say that on August 19, 2013, around 4:55 p.m., 12 year old Adriaunna Horton was playing in Hazel Park in Golden City with her two sisters and friends. Horton was observed by two others playing in the Park getting into the front passenger door of a blue 1998 Ford driven by Bobby D. Bourne, Jr. Adriaunna’s sister ran to her grandfathers for help and the search was on.
At 7:05 p.m. Missouri State Highway Trooper, Justin Leemasters observed the vehicle on Mill Street and conducted a traffic stop.
Bourne denied picking Horton up at the park and advised he had no knowledge of where she was. Bourne was subsequently arrested and charged with felony child kidnapping.
However, he later admitted having picked her up and directed investigators to the site in Dade County where her body was recovered 2 days later, according to probable cause affidavit.
Bourne told investigators that he drove the girl to a vacant home in Golden City to question her as to the whereabouts  of her father, James Horton, a former friend and co-worker. Bourne told investigators Adriaunna fell as she tried to run away from him and died as a result of the fall, but autopsy conducted in Springfield on Thursday, August 22nd, 2013, found evidence that she had been strangled. Her body also showed signs of sexual assault.
    A pre-hearing conference has been set for 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 10th, 2013.
Bourne remains jailed on a 2 million dollar bond.
