The 3rd annual Harvest Fest will be held at Jacob’s Winery.  Games begin at 3 pm.  Including Grape stomp, cork toss and bottling competition and an “I Love Lucy” look alike contest.  Celtic music from the band Exorna will begin at 7 pm.  For more information call 660-627-2424.

How much do you know about Missouri’s State Parks?  Play state park jeopardy.  Game begins at 7pm at Campground 1 Amphitheater at Thousand Hills State Park.  Team up and compete for prizes and test your knowledge of Missouri state parks and the amazing things they have to offer. La Plata is hosting the 59th Annual Soy Bean Festival The Soybean Festival will begin Saturday, Aug 31st with opening ceremonies, a pie contest ,and jungle run. There will be activities all weekend thru Monday Sept 2nd in downtown La Plata . Remember to celebrate Labor Day.  Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894 to celebrate workers. President Grover Cleveland signed the bill into law creating Labor Day as a National holiday. Now, it is a celebration of the end of summer.  American’s celebrate this holiday with barbeques and picnics.  Happy Labor Day!
