Howard C. Mankin, 84, Carthage, passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2013 at his home after a short illness.
Howard Charles Mankin was born Feb. 8, 1929 in Bakersfield, Calif., the son of the late Bill Mankin and Eva (Denney) Mankin.
He was a graduate of Fair Grove High School, Fair Grove, Mo., and was an engineer for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co.
He married Dorothy Stogsdill on July 24, 1948; she survives. Howard was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Carthage.
Additional survivors include a daughter-in-law, Kathy Mankin, Carthage; two grandchildren, Whitney Chartier and husband, Jon, Carthage; Ryan Mankin and wife, Amanda, Warrensburg, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Aiden Chartier, Truman Mankin and Dylan Mankin.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Stanton Charles Mankin and Steven Gil Mankin; one grandson, William Mankin.
A visitation will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Private graveside services will follow in Fair Grove Cemetery, Fair Grove, Mo.
