James D. Ling, 72, of Carthage, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 after a short illness.
Jim was born in Owensville, Mo., on March 17, 1941 to the late Virgil and Marguerite Ling.
Jim was united in marriage to Shirley Knowles on Dec. 19, 1964. She preceded him in death on May 15, 1992.
Jim enjoyed being outdoors, playing golf, fishing, and observing nature. He was employed by Leggett & Platt for many years, getting to travel and meet many new friends along the way.
Jim is survived by his children Melissa Ling of Kansas City, James Ling (Becky) of Carthage, Melanie Grundy (Eddie) of Carthage and Companion Virginia Sloniker of Carthage. He is survived by three grandchildren Jared and Abbey Ling and Hannah Grundy.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, a companion Margaret Starback, his daughter Michelle Ling, one brother and two sisters.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Carthage, Missouri.
Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
