This week the tourism staff is hitting the road.  We are headed to the Sedalia to the Missouri State Fair where we will invite fair attendees to visit Kirksville.  The Missouri Travel Council is hosting an exhibit called A Celebration of Women.  The Kirksville Tourism booth at the Exhibit will include both women in Osteopathic Medicine and Women's Outdoor Recreation.

With the help of Still Osteopathic Museum our Kirksville booth will display a large framed picture of Andrew Taylor Still with his female students.  We will give away 4 copies of Thomas A. Quinn's The Feminine Touch, Women in Osteopathy. In 1892 Andrew Taylor Still did the unimaginable when he accepted women and men equally in his newly opened American School of Osteopathy.  Now called the A.T. Still University's Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine the school has graduated hundreds of women physicians in the

We will also promote women in outdoor recreation.  The Missouri Conservation Department will provide a display so our staff can invite women for all over Missouri to come to the Kirksville area to hunt, fish, hike and camp.  

We join our colleagues at the Missouri Travel Council in celebrating all that women contribute to make Missouri the wonderful state it is.
