Norma Miriam Garcia Prins, 83 years, of La Russell, Mo., and a member of the Mt. Vernon Christian Church, departed this life Saturday, July 13, 2013.
Norma entered this life on Sept. 12, 1929 in Los Angeles, Calif., born to Alfredo Garcia and Celia (Gonzalez) Garcia. Norma was raised in the Los Angeles, Calif., area, graduating from Bellamene Jefferson High School, Burbank, Calif., in 1948.
On Feb. 14, 1951 Norma married Robert E. Prins. Six children were born into their union.
In the fall of 1968, Norma, along with her family, moved to the Webb City, Mo., area.
Norma’s passions in life were her relationship with her Lord and Savior, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved and prayed daily for her friends and her dog, Izzy. Mission work was important to her along with Bible studies and her devotionals. Music, reading, jigsaw puzzles filled her days.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Natalie Garcia, one sister; Erma Lookingbill, Robert E. Prins and a great grandson; Isaac Woodmansee.
Norma is survived by her three sons; Richard Prins and wife Jan of San Antonio, Texas, Lloyd Prins and wife Shari of Tulsa, Okla., and Robert Prins of Mt. Vernon, Mo., three daughters; Sharron Woodmansee and Teresa Smith, both of Sands Springs, Okla., and Linda Dahlman and husband Wayne of La Russell, Mo., 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, four sisters; Mirna Stanley and Minerva Astengo, both of Glendale, Calif., Teresa Garcia of La Canada, Calif., and Sylvia Mora of Pataskala, Ohio, one brother; Alfredo Garcia of Glendale, Calif., as well as a host of family and friends.
Graveside funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Cave Springs Cemetery near Sarcoxie, Mo., with Wayne Dahlman officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Mo.
