Trucks and tractors don't usually get a lot of attention — unless they break down of course — but this weekend's Carthage Shrine Club Truck and Tractor Pull will change all that.
Coming back for its 25th year, the 2013 Carthage Shrine Truck and Tractor Pull is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. each night on Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20.
If rain interferes with either night, the pull will continue at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 21. Cost to watch is $10 for adults and $2 for children 6-12 and free for children under 6.
The entry fee for those interested in entering any of the events is $15 for members of the Spring River Valley Tractor Pullers Association, and $20 for non members.
Prize money will be awarded for the best pulls in each of more than 20 different categories of trucks and tractors.
The sled that will be pulled is provided by the Spring River Vally Tractor Pullers Association and the event will be run under Association rules.
The event will also feature a special event for garden tractors, hosted by the Carthage Area Garden Tractor Pullers.
Entry fee for the garden tractors event is $10.
The event will be held at the tractor pull arena north of Highway V and east of the Kendrick Place in Kendricktown
For more information, people can call David Jones at 358-8816.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Carthage Shrine Club.
