  • Once a year, members of artCentral are invited to display art never seen before at Hyde House.
Though the artists’ chosen pieces may have been viewed at other venues, local art appreciators will enjoy fresh art of assorted mediums from 51 area artists. The Annual Membership Show is a prime opportunity for local artists and their fans to gather, celebrate art and fellowship. The show opens 6 p.m. Friday evening at Hyde House with a picnic.
“It’s a great show,” said artCentral director Sally Armstrong. “We are heavy with paintings this year – lots of color. I’m very pleased with the quality. It’s always a wonderful surprise what members will bring in.”
Regardless of medium, Armstrong said the show is full of appealing art that compliments each other: such as Alice Lynn Greenwood’s “Indulge,” and Helen Kunze’s “Sunset Blush,” which both feature some of life’s pleasantries.
The show will be judged this year by James Oliver, Jr. of the art department at Pittsburg State University, and the show is underwritten by McCune-Brooks Healthcare Foundation.
The gallery will be open on Saturday and Sunday from noon-5 p.m., and then the following two weekends through July 7. The Hyde House is located at 1110 E. 13th St., Carthage. For more information, call 358-4404.
