  • Okley Marcel Workman, 82, Carthage, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 in Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Mo.  
    Okley M. Workman was born July 13, 1930 in Ashland, Ken., the son of Herbert Lee Workman and Clara Isabel Irvin Workman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He married Bessie Cooper on June 14, 1983 in Las Vegas, Nev.; she preceded him in death on March 15, 2010.  
    Okley was a bus driver for the Phoenix Transfer and Southern Charter, Phoenix, Arizona and the A-Dependable Taxi service, Joplin, Mo. He was a member of the Carthage VFW Post, Carthage, MO.
    Survivors include three daughters, Linda Louise (Gregory) Dye, Carthage, Virginia Lee (Henry) Potter-Campbell, St. Louis, MO and Carol Ann (Dale) Titius, Carthage; three sons, Marvin Charles Potter, St. Louis, Mo., William Luther Potter, Carthage and Jimmy Ray Potter, Hemet, California; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Donna Inman, Chilicothe, Ohio and one brother, Hubert Earl Workman, Westwood, Ken.  
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bessie, one sister and three brothers.
    Visitation will be held from 6 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19 in the Knell Mortuary Chapel.  Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Carthage.  Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
