  • More than 60 volunteers with local businesses and organizations rolled up their sleeves on Friday for the Carthage Area United Way Day of Caring.
This year, the volunteers cleaned up the Jasper County Youth Fairgrounds and painted the fences. Volunteers were from: UMB Bank, Hometown Bank, SMB Bank, Liberty Bank, Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital, Schreiber Foods, Leggett & Platt, Jasper County, Carthage Water & Electric and D&D Sexton.
The Jasper County 4-H Club prepared breakfast and lunch for the volunteers, and the Carthage Crisis Center donated eggs for their breakfast.
Reaching out, volunteers also went to the Girl Scouts’ Camp Mintahama and the Lafayette House in Joplin.
