  • An opportunity to share a love for reading while having fun with your family will be at the Carthage Middle School this week.
A Scholastic Book Fair will be held from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. June 3-7 at the middle school, and the week will conclude with the family night from 4-8 p.m. June 7. That evening at 6 p.m., Carthage Middle School staff will take on employees from Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital in a basketball game for the “Food for Thought” Bright Futures backpack program.
“It's going to be so much fun,” said CMS counselor Travis Bolin, who will serve as a host with Principal Robin Jones. “We'll have a concession stand, and the $3 at the door will all benefit the Bright Futures. It'll be free to get into the book fair, and that's a great chance to meet our teachers. It's unique to have a book fair during the summer – it's just going to be a great time.”
There will be opportunities for students to enter a drawing, and the winner will be announced during the basketball game. Adding to the fun atmosphere, children's book character Geronimo Stilton will make an appearance.
