  • Oma D. Newman, 97, of Carthage, Mo., went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 1, 2013 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage.
    Oma was born May 9, 1916 to the late Dickie and Alice Williams in Berryville, Ark.  
    She was united in marriage Jan. 23, 1931 to Espey Newman.  
    To this union, three sons were born.  
    Throughout  her life she was a hard working and devoted homemaker.  She and her husband, Espey owned and operated a poultry farm east of Carthage.  She attended Grace Pointe Assembly of God, Carthage.
    Oma was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, her parents, a son Joe B. Newman, a grandson, Joey Newman, four brothers, Cheerful, Joy, Jess and Earl Williams, two sisters, Wilma Smith and Luttie Aubrey.
    Oma is survived by two sons, Dwain Newman and his wife Betty and E.J. Newman and his wife Kay both of Carthage, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Tuesday prior to services.  
    Burial will be in Park Cemetery.  The family requests that contributions be made to the Gideon’s International.   Online condolences may be sent at www.ulmerfh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Ulmer Funeral Home.
