  • The Carthage Police Department has released more information on the victim found under the Missouri Highway 96 bridge on Memorial Day.
Reynaldo Fuentes, 47, of Carthage, was found Monday (Memorial Day) dead by local picnickers under the west pillars of the bridge over Spring River, opposite a popular gravel beach in Kellogg Lake Park.
An autopsy was done Wednesday at noon and from that examination Police Chief Greg Dagnan said it was a case of "accidential death," where there was no foul play or any other signs of assault. Before a cause of death may be officially declared the body must undergo a toxicology screening, which Dagnan said, can take up to a few weeks time.
"This is obviously an unfortunate tragedy and we deal with these issues frequently, and in this case, this one was quite public," Dagnan said.
