Mary Josephine “Josie” Quick, 67, passed away April 22, 2013 at her home in Joplin, Mo.
Josie was born Sept. 21, 1945 to Helen and Henry Lopez in Horton, Kan. She was a resident of Jasper County for the past 29 years. Josie worked for Oxford Home Health Care for 10 years before retiring in 2012. She was an active member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and deer hunting. She especially loved time with her grandchildren and family. Josie was a survivor of the May 22, 2011 Joplin tornado.
Josie was survived by her husband Mike Quick of 29 years, her mother Helen Lopez of Atchison, Kan.; three daughters Kari Casteel and husband Jeff of Lenexa, Ks, Ronny Jo Nicklin and husband David of Basehor, Kan., and Dawn Williams of Kansas City, Kan.; four sons Ron Williams II and wife Amanda of Kansas City, Kan., Corey Quick and wife Shelly, Aaron Lefebure and wife Miranda both of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Travis Quick and wife Sheila of Liberty, Mo; five brothers Charles Lopez of Topeka, Kan., Michael Lopez of Iowa, Richard Lopez of Basehor, Kan., Fred Lopez and Hank Lopez both of Texas; one sister Connie Kasl of Atchison, Kan.; and 16 grandchildren. She was preceded by her father Henry Lopez.
Services will be a Rosary to begin at 6 p.m. with visitation to follow from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage, Mo. Additional services will be a visitation held Friday, April 26, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Arensberg Pruett Funeral Home Atchison, Kan. Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at St. Joseph Church, Atchison, Kan. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Atchison, Kan.
