  • Verla Maxine Stiles, 85, Lockwood, Mo., passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage, Mo.

  • Verla Maxine Stiles, 85, Lockwood, Mo., passed away on Monday, April 8, 2013 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage, Mo.
    Verla was born on Jan. 6, 1928 at La Russell, Mo., to the late Roy Graham and Pansy Schaffer Graham.  She married Kenneth Charles Stiles on Sept. 16, 1944.  Four children were born to this union.  
    Verla worked at O’Sullivan’s, and retired from Paramount Cap Factory.  She was an accomplished seamstress, and was an active member of her quilting club.  She enjoyed crocheting, and greatly enjoyed being outdoors, especially when tending to her flower gardens.  She was converted and baptized at a young age, was an active member of King’s Point Baptist Church for many years.
    Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Charles Stiles, on Feb. 16, 2010; by a daughter, Rebecca Laine Stiles; one grandson, Jonnie Lee Stiles; and by one granddaughter, Lori Lynn Ann McCane.
    She is survived by her children, Robert Stiles and his wife, Clyda, of Tulsa, Okla., Lynn Stiles and his wife, Cecilia, of Dayton, Ohio, and Wanda Lindsey and her husband, Rick, of Independence, Mo.; one brother, Floyd Graham; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
    Visitation will be from 6 – 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Knell Mortuary.  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 graveside, with Larry Spain officiating.  Interment is in Park Cemetery, Carthage, Mo., under direction of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo.
