Injured were Dalton Cowgill, 4; Kaden Cowgill, 6; Shayna Cowgill, 27; and Tatelin Cowgill, 2; all of Carthage, and Seth T. Lorton, 17, Joplin. All the injured were taken to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin
The patrol said a pickup truck, driven by Kenton Cowgill with the other members of the family as passengers, hit the rear of an SUV, driven by Lorton, while both were traveling north on Missouri Highway 249 at the Zora Street interchange.
The patrol said the drivers, Lorton and Kenton Cowgill, were using safety devices, while the three children were not. The patrol said it was unknown if Shayna Cowgill was using her safety device.
