Connie Suzanne (Catron) Mieir of Oak Grove, Mo., passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013 after challenging ALS with faith, courage and grace.
Connie was born on Aug. 17, 1952 in Carthage, Mo. to Wayne and Helen Catron.
Connie graduated from Missouri Southern with her Bachelor’s in Education; Master’s plus from Central Missouri State; and Library Media Specialist from Central Missouri State.
Connie worked for the Oak Grove R-VI schools as a classroom teacher for twenty years, and 10 years as the media center specialist. Being a librarian was her dream with her avid love of reading. She was instrumental in helping establish the Exchange City program; organized fifth grade musicals; and was proud of the library collection she shared with students. Each child was more than just a student as she cared for each one individually.
Connie was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Belton, Mo., and served faithfully there in the music ministry, and with a strong prayer life. Her love for Christ and the need for His Kingdom to grow was very important. Prior to serving at New Hope, she sang in choirs; led worship; was a music minister; worked at CYOKAMO Christian Camp; taught Bible school; and classes for adults. Her work in bus ministry included a record Sunday with 100 passengers.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Mike; and by a niece, Karrie.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Mieir; siblings, brother Larry (Karen) Catron; sister-in-law Diana Catron, sister Peggy (Jay) Lucas; four children, DeGee (Mark) Brown, Billy Mieir, Mark (Staci) Mieir, and Alex Mieir. Connie had eleven grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
