Goldie Neomia Kleiss, 98, Carthage, passed away on March 17, 2013 following an extended illness.
Goldie was born on December 13, 1914 in Iantha, Mo. to the late Clarence A. Brooks and Alice May Eickelberger Brooks. She married Lawrence Kleiss on May 16, 1932, and three children were born to this union. Lawrence preceded her in death on July 7, 2001.
Goldie had several jobs in her life, from working with her husband at the feed mill, to being a clerk in retails stores. She greatly enjoyed being outdoors, especially when tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and taking care of her chickens. She was very talented with needle and thread as she worked on embroidery, needlepoint, and her many crochet projects.
Besides her parents and her husband, Goldie was preceded in death by her son, Jim Kleiss.
She is survived by one daughter, Louise Smith of Carthage, Mo.; one son, Donald E. Kleiss of Shawnee Village, Kan.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Goldie Kleiss will be 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2012 at Knell Mortuary. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Knell Mortuary.
