  • Bobby D. Campbell, 84 years, formerly of Parsons, Kan., departed this life March 6, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Mo.
    Bobby was born Nov. 26, 1928 to the late Roscoe and Daisy (Morton) Campbell in rural Sarcoxie, Mo. He was a 1946 graduate of Sarcoxie High School. During his senior year he was crowned Sarcoxian King of his class and was an alumni of Pittsburg State College. He served in the Army during the Korean War, returning home in 1953. On June 6, 1954 he married Theobell G. (Chandler) Campbell and together they shared the last fifty three years, making Parsons, Kansas their home until her death on Nov. 1, 2008. For the last three years Bobby resided at the Missouri Veteran Home in Mt. Vernon, Mo.
    Bobby was a deacon of Friendship Southern Baptist Church in Parsons, Kansas. He also served as Sunday School director and treasurer. He was a member of the American Legion of Red Oak, Kansas State Federation of Music Club, and was very active in Life Insurance Organizations. He also was a member of Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony of Eureka, Springs. Bob sponsored Calfarley's Boys and Girls Ranch in Amarillo Texas. For many years he supported area youth athletic programs. Bobby and Theobell loved to travel, making trips to London, Alaska and Mexico. They also enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends. He also loved golfing and bowling.
    Bobby was preceded in death by three brothers, Dr. Ralph B. Campbell, Talmage Campbell and Bruce Campbell.
    Bobby is survived by his “Twin” brother, Billy G. Campbell and his wife Jean of LaRussell, Missouri, one brother, Fred Campbell and wife Opal of Carthage, Missouri, two sister in laws, Ruth Campbell of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sue Campbell of Fresno, California, sixteen nieces and nephews as well as a host of other family and friends.
    Services for Bobby D.Campbell will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Sarcoxie, Mo. With Brother Sam Wilson officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Sarcoxie Schools music department in his memory in lieu of flowers.
