Pearl Berniece (Ballentine) Green Moss, 89, of Sarcoxie, Mo., departed this life on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Freeman Hospital , Joplin Missouri after a recent decline in health.
Pearl entered this life on Jan. 4, 1924 in Opossum Hollow, Ark., born to the union of the late Charles and Mammie (Wright) Ballentine. Her formative years were spent in Diamond, Mo., where she graduated from Diamond High School. On July 30, 1942 she was united in marriage to Beryl Dayton Green and to this union four children were born. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1998. Her family was very important to her and she found great joy in spending time with them. She loved baking her famous apple pies. She did volunteer work at Gene Taylor Museum, a member of the Ladies Progress Club, she enjoyed making crafts as well as sewing. On May 24, 2007 she was married to Gale Moss, he preceded her in death, Dec. 9, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Larry Dayton Green, two brothers, Alvin Ballentine and Hurshel Ballentine, one sister, Flossie Boehning.
Pearl is survived by three daughters, Carol Nimsick and husband Bill of Rogersville, Missouri, Glenda Rowland and husband James of Branson, Mo., Cynthia Soard and husband Kent of Carthage, Mo., daughter in law, Lou Green of Olathe, Kan., three sisters, Iva Willadean Hunter of Carthage, Mo., Sharon Taylor and husband Robert of Lyman, Wyo., and Julia Page and husband Marvin of Olathe, Kan., one brother Charles Ballentine and wife Jeanie of Friendswood, Texas, 10 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. in the Chapel of the Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Mo. Funeral services will be Monday, March 11, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Dudman Springs Church with burial to follow at Dudman Springs Cemetery.
