Missouri Pesticide Collection Program

If you have gotten rid of pests but are still plagued by left-over pesticides, the Missouri Pesticide Collection Program can help. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MO DNR) is providing Missouri residents with a convenient, free opportunity to properly dispose of pesticides and herbicides. The collection program collected over 68,000 pounds of pesticides in 2012 and will resume beginning March 9, 2013. Specific event locations will be posted as they become available.

The collection program is open only to households and farmers and any Missouri resident can bring their pesticides to any event under this program. Proof of Missouri residence may be requested.

Only material that can be clearly identified as an acceptable item will be received in this free pesticide collection program.

What is accepted?

  • Fungicides.

  • Herbicides.

  • Insecticides.

  • Pesticides.

  • Rodenticides.

  • Fertilizers containing herbicides or pesticides.

  • De-wormers and fly-tags.

What is not accepted?

  • Explosives.

  • Fire Extinguishers.

  • Smoke Detectors.

  • Cylinders.

  • Asbestos.

  • Trash.

  • Yard Waste.

  • Electronics.

  • Pesticides from businesses, pesticide production facilities, pesticide distributors or pesticide retailers.

All materials collected are managed as pesticide and herbicide waste and are field characterized, sampled (if necessary), segregated and placed into proper Department of Transportation shipping containers with approved labels and markings. The waste is transported and managed at an approved licensed disposal facility. Any materials brought to the collection events that are not clearly identifiable as pesticides or herbicides will not be accepted.
