For one Camdenton native, a dream has come true. Camdenton R-III School District recently announced that Ryan Neal will take over as Assistant Superintendent in charge of academic services effective July 1, 2013.
"This is a chance to come home and serve my community and the school that I'm so proud of," Neal said.
Neal is a Camdenton graduate and taught in the district for ten years from 1997 to 2007 before going on to lead Iberia and Eldon as principal.
Neal is back in the district this school year currently serving as the Assistant Director of the Lake Career and Technical Center. He hopes to bring his experience from LCTC to his new position. LCTC taught him what practical application of the curriculum looks like. Neal hopes to use that in other parts of the district.
"Every experience I had is going to help me here," Neal said. "I'm excited about converting and moving forward with common core curriculum."
Camdenton has always held a special place in Neal's heart. For him, this position is more than a job.
"To be a part of the process to make it [the district] go, is a real honor and a real responsibility," he said. "It's a lot bigger than a job, it's more like a calling because it's home. I'm looking forward to doing this for a long time."
Neal added that he is also looking forwarded to working with Superintendent Tim Hadfield, other administrators, the school board, principals and everyone within the district.
Neal followed in his parents footsteps when he entered the education world. He is now raising a family full of Lakers. Neal is the proud dad of a preschool student, a second grader and a seventh grader. Neal's wife is also the Laker Cheerleading coach.
