  • Gartner, Logan, Feagans win first-round matches at state

  • Gage Gartner, Seth Logan and Trevor Feagans each won their first-round matches Thursday at the Class 3 MSHSAA Wrestling Championships at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

  • Gage Gartner, Seth Logan and Trevor Feagans each won their first-round matches Thursday at the Class 3 MSHSAA Wrestling Championships at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
    Gartner, wrestling at 120 pounds, scored four team points and pinned Windsor's Dirk Tucker in 2:34. Gartner improved to 34-9, and Tucker fell to 33-12.
    Gartner is now one of eight wrestlers on the championship side of the bracket. He will face Warrensburg's Malacai Collins in today's quarterfinals. Collins, 46-4, advanced from the first round after pinning Ladue's Jonas Miller-Stockie in 3:33.
    At 132 pounds, Seth Logan (38-3) tallied three team points while winning by major decision 12-3 against Austin Graeler of Ft. Zumwalt North, who fell to 24-12.
    Logan is set to face Desoto's Aaron Minx in the quarterfinals. Minx, who is 52-2, won by major decision 10-1 against Robert Bastarache of Staley on Thursday. Neosho's Nate Rodriquez advanced on the bottom of the bracket, pinning his opponent in 48 seconds.
    Senior Trevor Feagans improved his season record to 47-1 while winning by fall against Jacob Stinnett of Sikeston, in 2:36. Stinnett fell to 33-11.
    Feagans will face Platte County's Collin Tolliver, who pinned his opponent in 41 seconds Thursday and is 37-13 overall. Neosho's Jason Box suffered a first-round loss by major decision 9-1, and will face Staley's Jordan Steward.
    Dakota Jones, wrestling at 106 pounds, fell to Shaun Beeman of Ft. Zumwalt North in 1:24. Jones is now 31-16, and Beeman improved to 37-4.
    Jones will face Staley's Seth Otis today. Otis, 35-20, lost to Pacific's Josh Franek by technical fall 16-0. Neosho's Kyler Rea advanced with a win by pin in 2:33 against Hunter Brazil of Ft. Zumwalt South, and will face Elias Hamchaoui of Rayton today.
    At 126 pounds, River Maggard fell to 20-12 after losing by decision 15-12 to Joe Disciacca (34-14) of Kearney in the first round. Maggard will face Kamerun Williams of McCluer, who lost by pin in 3:48 in his first-round match, falling to 21-8. Neosho's Dakota McGarrah lost by major decision, and is in line to face Maggard if each wins two more matches.
    Tommy Bradshaw, 31-12, lost his first-round match at 145 pounds to Union's Devon Fennessey by pin in 40 seconds. Fennessey improves to 48-5. Bradshaw will match up with Platte County's Jourdan Karsten (31-23), who lost by decision 7-3 on Thursday. McDonald County's Jacob Dalton, and Neosho's Kyler Hostetter each won their first-round matches.
    Skyler Bloomer, wrestling at 170 pounds, lost by fall to Casey Bryan of Winnetonka in 3:35. Bloomer is now 30-17, and Bryan improved to 45-4.
    Bloomer is set to take on Peter Weingart of Saint Mary's, who lost by decision 8-4 Thursday and is now 42-11. Webb City's Alex Lane pinned his opponent in 3:50, and will face Garrison Jones of Farmington today in the quarterfinals.
    Blaine Perry, 31-13, lost by decision 13-6 to Platte County's Mitch Adams (35-11) in his first-round match at 285 pounds. Perry is set to take on Washington's Matt Pecka (34-18), who lost by decision 2-1 on Thursday. Webb City's Tony Carranco lost by decision 7-3, and Neosho's Aaron Clardy pinned his opponent in 4:35.
    Page 2 of 2 - Class 3 quarterfinals and second-round wrestlebacks are slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, with the semifinals scheduled for 6 p.m. The tournament will conclude on Saturday.
