With a month left in the campaign, the Carthage Area United Way reported the organization is 99.5 percent to the goal of $300,000.
During the Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet on Thursday, United Way board member Bob Goar gave a break down of the numbers each division has raised throughout the campaign. So far between the five divisions, a total of $298,735.91 has been raised for the 13 local organizations and agencies under the care of the United Way. The last day for the 2012/2013 campaign is Feb. 28.
“The individuals and businesses are just unbelievable with the amount of work and effort they do,” said United Way board member Bev Baker. “We just want to say thank you for all you do.”
Leggett & Platt Inc., was recognized for the most volunteerism with 49 individuals contributing to the United Way's efforts. The annual Day of Caring featured 30 volunteers from the community this year, and there were 71 “Pillar Givers,” which are people or businesses who give $500 or more to the campaign.
The 2013 United Way Board of Directors President, Jerry Poston, said with the continued support of the generous Carthage community, next year will be another successful year.
This year's Chairman's Award was given to Innovative Industries.
The 110% Award was given to Jana Kresyman with US Bank.
The Spirit of Giving Award was given to The Carthage Press.
Carthage Crisis Center sold the most black out cards and received a prize.
