Arnold R. Miller Jr., 76, Topeka, Kan., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 in the VA Medical Center, Leavenworth, Kan.
Arnold Rollie Miller was born March 17, 1936 in Wichita, Kan., the son of Arnold J. Miller, Sr., and Helen Marie Rowland. He and his family moved to Missouri in 1949 living in the Sarcoxie area.
He attended Sarcoxie Public Schools and was a graduate of Miller High School, Class of 1955. He worked with his father on the family farm and later in the family business at Log City, east of Avilla, Mo. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served aboard the U.S.S. BON HOMME RICHARD before being medically discharged in 1962.
He moved to Carthage in 1965 before moving to Summerfield, Kan. in 2000, then to Topeka in 2006. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge, Carthage.
Survivors include a sister, Rosalie (Burnis) Elliott, Joplin; a half sister, Ann (Harold) Kling, Eldorado, Kan. and a half brother, John Miller, Adrian, Michigan; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24 in Fasken Cemetery, Carthage.
